Christ our Peace – 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Please prepare yourselves, take a listen through the song so you can at least sing the melody confidently =)

If there are parts you are unsure of or specific parts for the hymn you need someone to teach you, come early, ask early.

As part of our ongoing efforts to mold ourselves to music ministers, singers of God’s praise, here’s the takeaway tip of the week:

Learn and memorise, at least, the refrain/chorus of the hymns =) it helps to not always sing to the breaking bread hymnal.

The list of hymns is as follows (lyrics and song files to follow)

1. The Prayer of St Francis

2. Dona Nobis Pacem (Gregory Norbet)

3. This is Our Cry (Janet Sullivan Whitaker)

4. This Bread that We Share

5. Go Make a Difference (Steve Angrisano)

6. God with us (Sarah Hart)

2. Dona Nobis Pacem

– Altos: melody

– parts and Sop descants

– take note of final ending

Dona Nobis Pacem

God of nearness, God of life

You are with us, we rejoice!

You renew us with great love

God among us this our joy!

(there are more verses, so take note!)

This is our cry, this is our prayer

Peace in the world, peace in the world

i. Let us climb the mountain of God . Let us go there together.

Holy One, the eyes of us all look to you: Hear our prayer.

ii. Can’t we lay all weapons to rest, turn our swords into plowshores

Can we bring destruction and war to an end forever more?

iii. For the sake of all who love God, let his peace be within you.

For your peace we pray, O Jerusalem, with all who love you

5. Go Make a Difference (Steve Angrisano)

Go make a diff’rence.

We can make a diff’rence.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

Go make a diff’rence.

We can make a diff’rence.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

i. We are the salt of the earth,

called to let the people see

the love of God in you and me.

We are the light of the world,

not to be hidden but be seen.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

ii. We are the hands of Christ

reaching out to those in need,

the face of God for all to see.

We are the spirit of hope;

we are the voice of peace.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

iii. So let your love shine on,

let it shine for all to see.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

And the spirit of Christ

will be with us as we go.

Go make a diff’rence in the world.

6. God with us (Sarah Hart)

i. You are higher than all of our questions,

you are deeper than all of our needs,

wider than all that we can imagine;

you are greater than anything.

ii. You are stronger than all of our burdens,

you are sweeter than all of our dreams,

closer than all the air that surrounds us;

you are greater than anything.

Refrain

You are holy, Holy God Almighty,

God with us.

You are holy, Holy God Almighty,

God with us. God with us.

iii. You bring joy into all of our sadness,

you bring peace into all of our pain,

shining light into all of our darkness;

you are greater than anything.

(to Refrain)

Bridge

Ever before us and ever beside us,

ever above us and ever behind us,

ever around us and ever within us,

and always God with us.

(to Refrain)
